This Thursday, pianist Marta Sanchez returns to The Jazz Gallery with her quintet, presenting music from their recently-released album, SAAM (Spanish American Art Museum). On this album, Sanchez continues to explore contrapuntal possibilities in a small group setting, with double saxophones stitching thread upon thread. “Marivi,” the track featured below, includes trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and vocalist Camila Meza adding satin textures to Sanchez’s moving tribute to her late mother.

At the Gallery, Sanchez will be joined by a mix of working band members and special guests, including saxophonists John Ellis and Alex LoRe, bassist Chris Tordini, and drummer Allan Mednard. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Sanchez’s compositions bloom in new ways.

The Marta Sanchez Quintet celebrates the release of SAAM (Spanish American Art Museum) at The Jazz Gallery on Thursday, March 31, 2022. The group features Ms. Sanchez on piano, Alex LoRe on alto saxophone, John Ellis on tenor saxophone, Chris Tordini on bass, and Allan Mednard on drums. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M. E.D.T. $15 general admission (FREE for members), $25 reserved table seating ($10 for members) for each set. Purchase tickets here.
