This Thursday, December 2, The Jazz Gallery is proud to welcome trombonist Ryan Keberle’s newest project, the All Ears Orchestra. While Keberle’s main projects as a leader—Catharsis and Reverso—are nimble chamber-jazz outfits, Keberle is a New York big band veteran, playing in the acclaimed ensembles of Maria Schneider and Darcy James Argue.

Featuring many bandmates from those two ensembles, the All Ears Orchestra will play a mix of Keberle originals alongside works by Brazilian arrangers Fernando Correa and Gustavo Bugni, movements from the Ellington/Strayhorn Nutcracker Suite, and a chart from Keberle’s father, Dan. For a taste of the lyricism and rhythmic churn of the band’s music, check out their performance at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church—”the first church of jazz”—from the fall of 2019:
