The Jazz Gallery Presents: Beachfinds

Album design by Dave Lee.

In 2017, vocalists Arta Jēkabsone and Erik Leuthäuser began an intercontinental musical collaboration. With complementary senses of lyricism and emotional clarity, they released an album of original compositions entitled Yesterday Still Lies Beneath The Floorboards in 2018.

Some time later, Leuthäuser found a volume of poetry by the writer Dean Wilson in a London bookshop. He shared the work with Jēkabsone on a New York trip, and they fell in love with Wilson’s plainspoken depictions of the English seaside where Wilson lives. The pair set several of these “Beachfinds” to music, releasing an album of the same name last fall.
