The Jazz Gallery Presents: Gerald Clayton

This week, pianist Gerald Clayton returns to The Jazz Gallery for two nights of intimate chamber jazz. In April, Clayton released his newest album, Bells on Sand. The record showcases the full range of Clayton’s musical mind, featuring an intergeneration band of father John Clayton on bass, mentor Charles Lloyd on saxophone, peer Justin Brown on drums, and up-and-comer MARO on vocals. Check out his solo version of “Peace Invocation” below:

At the Gallery, Clayton has convened a pair of flexible, intimate trios. On Tuesday, June 7, Clayton will be joined by saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins and Joel Ross, while on Wednesday, June 8, he’ll be joined by guitarist Peter Bernstein and vibraphonist Steve Nelson. Always an inveterate explorer, Clayton is sure to find saturated new colors with these trios.

Gerald Clayton plays The Jazz Gallery on Tuesday, June 7, and Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Mr. Clayton will be joined on Tuesday by Immanuel Wilkins on saxophone and Joel Ross on vibraphone; he’ll be joined on Wednesday by Peter Bernstein on guitar and Steve Nelson on vibraphone. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M.E.D.T. each night. $25 general admission ($10 for members), $35 reserved cabaret seating ($20 for members) for each set. Purchase tickets here.
